Introducing Antistat “X”™ Roll Covers with Non Static, No Shock

Roll Covers are traditionally used for roll release solutions in the papermaking and converting industry. Heat-shrinkable fluoropolymer (i.e. FEP, PFA, etc.) sleeves and spray-applied coatings eliminate many of the traditional roll problems associated with paper production such as build-up, corrosion, and frequent downtime for cleaning and maintenance. Fluoropolymers have a low surface energy, resulting in their “non-stick” properties. This feature allows for less fiber picking and build-up enabling rolls to run longer, faster, and at higher temperatures. The end results are increased production efficiency, higher quality paper, and substantial savings in time and money.
Fluoropolymer roll covers can be used on paper carrying rolls to prevent build-up on rolls with moisture levels below 60%. They can also be used on bowed spreader rolls without wrinkling or flex fatigue. Fluoropolymer roll covers can be installed over a variety of substrates: steel, rubber covered, aluminum, fiberglass, or composite rolls.
Our Pfaudler Edlon division is the original innovator of fluoropolymer coating and coverings for release application in the pulp & paper industry, dating back to the 1960’s. Our roll covers are fabricated using Edlon’s Pure-Fusion™ welding technology, resulting in a nearly undetectable weld that is as strong as the virgin material and allows for custom sizing to fit. Integral to the roll cover offerings is our On-Machine Seaming technology (OMS™), which allows our field service team to install heat-shrinkable roll covers (sleeves) on dryers at our customers’ plants without removing it from the paper machine.
Pfaudler Edlon has recently started supplying antistatic versions of our roll covers to combat industry issues with static discharges that can result from conventional fluoropolymer covers. The main application for the Antistat ”X”™ material is bowed (spreader) rolls in the paper industry. It can also be used in dry application in the converting industry, printing industry with solvent based components, and textile industry.
