History & Milestones

Proud Heritage

Pfaudler began in 1884 when Caspar Pfaudler, a German brewmaster in Rochester, NY, invented the process for glass-lined steel, today known as Pfaudler’s Glasteel®.  Originally invented for the vacuum fermentation of beer, Glasteel® became a vital part of many industries, due to its corrosion-resistance, cleanliness, and non-stick properties.

GMM Pfaudler was established in 1962 as Gujarat Machinery Manufacturers and listed on both the Bombay and National Stock Exchanges.  In 1987 Pfaudler Inc., USA subscribed to a 40% equity to form a joint venture.  Pfaudler Inc. further increased their stake to 51% in 1999 and the name of the company was changed to GMM Pfaudler Limited. In 2021 GMM Pfaudler has completed the acquisition of the majority stake in the global business of the Pfaudler Group.

Supported by our foundational legacy, GMM Pfaudler Group is today a global leader in corrosion-resistant technologies, systems, and services for the chemical, pharmaceutical, food and energy industries.

Our Branded Product Lines that include PFAUDLER, NORMAG, MAVAG, MIXEL, MIXION, MIXPRO, INTERSEAL, EQUILLOY, EDLON and HYDROAIR, showcase our strength as a group, our capabilities, and our pursuit for continuous innovation.
